Beeswax is an amorphous substance. Some of the beeswax with looser texture and no other minerals can float on water (the word Amber in English comes from Arabic, and its original meaning is "floating on water"). Beeswax generates static electricity when rubbed, and can absorb light objects such as paper scraps and iron filings. Some of it also has static electricity even without friction, and it feels like "sucking your hand" when you hold it. Beeswax is an organic mineral with a smooth texture and colorful colors. It has a wide range of uses and is of great value. Like other natural gemstones, it enjoys the reputation of "Earth Star". Beeswax contains countless colors, some are transparent and crystal clear, some are translucent, and some are opaque but with colorful patterns. If transparent ones are exposed to light, they often show multiple colors. [9]
Beeswax was formed in the Cretaceous period. Due to the longer formation time and more complex formation process, there are more varieties than other origins. Some ambers are named according to their colors, such as lard honey, chicken oil yellow, white honey, gray honey, blood honey, brown honey, green honey, and some are named according to their states, such as golden sand honey, golden twisted honey, golden floating honey, cave honey, etc.
Common beeswax is mainly yellow beeswax produced in the Baltic region, which is generally yellow and white. Some are translucent, called half honey and half amber. Yellow has different shades, and old beeswax is usually dark brown, and some are even reddish. Most of what is produced in Myanmar is amber, but there are also a few rare beeswax. Fushun, China, also produces it, but it has been almost exhausted in recent years. There are many colors of beeswax, which mainly depends on the mineral composition of the burial site. These rare beeswaxes were formed more than 40 to 50 million years ago, and some are even more than 100 million years old, and the number is very rare, with extremely high collection value.
According to geological research, beeswax is made from the petrification of pine, cypress and maple resins from the Eocene and Cretaceous periods between 30 to 40 million to 100 million years ago. Beeswax is a precious natural treasure bestowed by nature to mankind. Its formation process takes tens of millions of years, and it has experienced many vicissitudes during this period, which has added countless magnificent colors to it. Its beauty and magic always surprise people. Moreover, beeswax has a delicate texture, and is warm and smooth to the touch (this is quite similar to Chinese nephrite). It is not as cold as other gems, but has a more human touch.
