Colored Ammonite

- Origin: Mainly produced in Alberta, Canada, and also produced in Madagascar, but the quality is not as good as Canada.
- Features: Due to the diffraction effect between the surface layers and the gloss, it presents a unique opal-like iridescence, with a variety of colors such as green, red, blue, and purple, most of which are green and red, and blue and purple are even rarer.
- Value: It was awarded the official gem status by the World Jewelry Federation in 1981. It is an organic gemstone and is often made into pendants, brooches, and earrings. It is called the "Seven-Colored Prosperity Stone" by Feng Shui practitioners, but there is no scientific basis for its Feng Shui effect.
- Formation: The fossil shell of the ammonite has been transformed underground for more than tens of millions of years, and was later fully presented due to the crustal movement of the Rocky Mountains. Its rainbow color comes from the interference light reflected back by the multiple layers of thin plates that make up the aragonite.
